Chatter that matter
Is the patter the fatter

What If You Are Wounded and Don't Know It?

Some wounds are obvious. A broken relationship. A traumatic event. The loss of someone we love. Abuse, neglect or abandonment. But some wounds are much harder to recognize. They don't look like wounds. They look like personality . “That's just how I am.” “I don't trust people.” “I have always been a perfectionist.” “I just get angry easily.” “I don't need anyone.” “I have to take care of everyone.” “I don't like talking about my feelings.” “I just like staying busy.” We may have lived with these patterns for so long that we no longer question them. But sometimes what we call “the way I am” is actually the way I learned to survive. What If There Is a Story Behind Your Reactions? Think about the things that repeatedly trigger you. Why does criticism hurt you so much? Why do you become defensive when someone corrects you? Why do you find it almost impossible to say no? Why do you need everyone's approval? When Your Healing Becomes a Gift to Others

Healing can begin with a deeply personal question: “How can I become whole?” We want freedom from fear. Freedom from shame. Freedom from anger. Freedom from the patterns that have controlled us. And rightly so. But Christian healing does not end with me feeling better. The deeper purpose of healing is communion . We are healed so that we can love more freely. But because a person who has encountered healing can become a different kind of presence in the lives of others. What Happens When We Stop Passing the Wound Forward? Wounds can be transmitted. A father who was treated harshly may unconsciously treat his children harshly. A person who grew up with constant criticism may become highly critical of others. Someone who was never listened to may struggle to listen. Someone who was controlled may try to contr...

From Eden to the New Creation: Common Questions Answered

-
Image
Christianity does not teach that God’s ultimate plan is simply to return humanity to the Garden of Eden. Through Jesus Christ, God promises the resurrection of the body, the perfection of human life, and the renewal of creation. Yet many questions arise when we consider this promise. Will we recognise our loved ones? Will animals and plants exist in the new creation? What happens to those who reject God? What is purgatory, and can we help those who are in it? Will the earth be destroyed? And can the suffering we experience now help purify us for eternal life? The following questions explore these mysteries in the light of Scripture and Catholic teaching. To help distinguish what the Church teaches from what remains unknown, each answer carries a label: Defined – solemnly defined doctrine Church teaching – taught in the Catechism (CCC) and by the Church’s teaching authority Theological opinion – a theological view that is not binding Open question – not revealed; we can hope and won...
