Yoked to Jesus

“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.” †  Mathew 11: 28-30  What is the labour and burden that Jesus is asking me to deal with? Perhaps I have to let go of the compulsive burden (or is it a sort of entitlement?) that my spouse and children should choose a spiritual path that I know to be right. Jesus accompanied Judas Iscariot to the very end but never deprived him of his freedom to choose his own destiny. Jesus on the other hand, uninterrupted by Judas's choice to reject him, continues to accomplish his mission. He does become a victim of Judas's betrayal but he seldom takes on the victim's identity. In divine wisdom, Jesus chooses to die in our place (and that of Judas) in a redeeming act of love. Rather than being compelled to fix those whom God has entrusted to my headship by m

Birth control, a deeper reflection

These days, the common thoughts that troubles any married people are the likes below:

Is this relationship worth? Will this marriage work? I'm I not risking my future committing to be with this man /woman- forever? Should I sacrifice my career, freedom, well being and all that just to have babies? Second kid? More kids!!!? I can’t manage even the only one I have. Everything seems to fall apart. How can I save my marriage? Is this is my fate. Will I have to live my whole life in misery. Have I become a burden? Can I ever be a good dad or husband? Will I be able to make enough money to meet the rising expenses? The list is endless…

If we closely analyze these worries, we will begin to see the following. We have assumed that it is tough to make marriages work. Success in marriage is no longer looked upon as the success of the “fruitfulness of marriage” but individual success - where success is defined by the amount of money and position one is earns in a life time. We have become selfish, greedy, less confident, less resilient, Babies have become optional and are no longer the purpose of marriage. Having a baby is seen as huge sacrifice and an unnecessary burden. The degree of anti-baby public sentiment rises as couple chooses to have more babies. People consider those with more children fools and underdeveloped, who invites trouble not only for themselves but for he society as well. We have assumed that bringing up a baby is an impossible task. We have assumed that one needs professional help and special education to raise kids now a days. We have believed in a lie that said "small family is a happy family". Sadly but truly, our own selfishness has made us realize we are no longer capable of becoming good dads and moms. Life has become a burden and hopelessness is on the increase.

Preventing babies have become the most prominent agenda in the world today. Our culture competes to promote casual sexual unions but deny babies, gratifying man's greed and self seeking inclinations. We have invented ways to seek pleasure at the expense of the other. We have reduced fellow men and women to objects to be utilized  Women have been made to believe lies that they are not as good as men and that they have to be independent. Men faked their motives to get with what they wanted. Manipulation has become the new code of life. Physical appearance became what really matters and real inner person did not matter. Woman used their body's sensual power to manipulate men. Men fake anything to get his sexual sexual drives met.

Those enlightened solitary crusaders who propose a change in the human character have become our arch enemies.

Birth control is a hard blow on humanity. It is one of the greatest weapons the enemy has devised against us - to bring humanity down. He targeted the epicenter of human life that is the family. Babies who once brought us joy and sense of purpose has now become a threat and burden. Do we have any evidence to prove that “population” has crumpled nations down? Has “small family” solved any of our problems? Have we not become more selfish and greedy after soliciting this solution of world that clearly lacked wisdom? Have we not become more self seeking? Have not our lives become more difficult. Has not living together become more painful? Are we not losing our sense of purpose? Aren't we quick to judge those who demand a change? Aren't we opposing the Catholic Church because it has been the only institution which continues to uphold the values of life and still proposes sacrificial love as the only means to love? Have we not denied the existence of God just to have our own way?

You and I are still precious in the eyes of our God the creator. He is able to save us. Let us realize the mistakes we have done knowingly and unknowingly. Let us realize how these lies have affected our lives. Let us rise above the pitiful state we have been lowered to. We can!! I say we can! God is alive. He became human to prove that he is alive. He rose again to prove the same. We still see goodness in the world even in the midst of all hopelessness and evil. This proves God's existence.  We have a common enemy. And he is   a defeated enemy. He trembles at the sight of Godly men. Rise up fellow Christians. Rise above mediocrity. Let us not be victims of the few manipulative vicious minds’ that connive with Satan to self destruct.

Jesus we need you more than ever. Behold He is knocking gently at your door. Let us allow Him in our lives. Let us promise to depart no more from Him. You alone can save us. Maranatha. We await you oh Savior of the word.
