When Fear Makes Me Resist Jesus

"If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." — John 8:31–32 One question has always troubled me whenever I read John 8. How could they not believe Him? The eternal Logos —the very Word through whom the universe was created—was standing before them in human flesh. The One whom generations had longed for was inviting them into freedom. He wasn't merely speaking the truth. He was the Truth. Yet instead of drawing closer, they argued. They defended themselves. They resisted. Eventually, they sought to silence Him. Why? Was it simply pride? Or was something much deeper happening within the human heart?
